A video showing a Chinese train passenger offering a foreign passenger a can of beer, and drink together as he was trying to persuade him to lower his voice when he is talking on the phone went viral on various social media platforms. According to witnesses, the foreign national was on a train destined for a city in Anhui Province from Jiangsu Province. During the journey, the foreign national made calls and spoke so loudly that he was told that he is disturbing other passengers. Despite numerous attempts by train attendants to persuade him to lower his voice, he kept speaking with a loud voice for more than 4 hours.
A Chinese passenger later approached the man and offered him a can of beer, telling him that he wanted to drink the beer with him and talk him out of talking loudly while he was on calls.
The foreign passenger agreed and the two talked with no incident, the man promised to lower his voice, and the Chinese national went back to his seat. However, according to the man who took and shared the video online, the foreign national continued to make calls and talked with a loud voice when the Chinese national left. After failing to persuade the man to lower his voice, the train attendants resorted to calling the train police who took him away. It is not known what happened to him after that."I don't think this is a big deal. As long as I can tell, every day I take a subway or public bus there are old people talking to each other in a distance with a loud voice, but it's rare among young people." Wrote one netizen whose comment received hundreds of likes. In a case that involves a foreign person who allegedly “disturbed” the public, you would expect that netizens will leave disturbing comments and condemn him. However, in this case, the majority of netizens left comments saying that the video went viral just because a foreign national was involved. Another netizen tried to compare this with other news about people who couldn't tolerate a child crying, asking why people tolerated this one. Many also noted that they always see the “uncles” and “aunts” making loud voice in public transportation but no one complains or ask them to lower their voices.Video Publisher's CommentThe person who took and published the video online told reporters that he had no bad intention or malice toward the foreign national, he said that he only wanted to show how a Chinese national used a “friendly” way to talk to the foreigner and persuaded him to lower his voice.
